Freemasonry and Charity
Freemasonry takes great pride in its charitable work and every mason is taught to care for the less fortunate members of our society – by charitable giving, by voluntary efforts and by individual act of kindness. Charity is not the reason for our existence but it is one result of putting our masonic principles into practice. Masons do not raise money from the general public - by far the largest part of the money we raise is freely given by masons themselves. There is, however, no pressure on individual masons to donate - we simply give what we can aford. We work with both local charities and good causes, and with national and international charities.
