New Leader of Berkshire Masons
Over four hundred members assembled at the county headquarters in Sindlesham to see the formal appointment of Martin Peters as the new leader of Freemasonry in Berkshire. Senior officials travelled from London to perform the ceremony which was preceded by a special luncheon.
Martin spoke about his hopes and his vision for the development of Freemasonry in the county. He said he was optimistic about our future because of the skills, experience and talents of our members, the improving public appreciation of the good intentions of Freemasons and the fact that our guiding principles of friendship and tolerance, of benevolence towards others and of integrity are obviously so much in need to help solve the problems of the world.
He also announced a new initiative to raise £500,000 to enhance the ability of the Berkshire Masonic Charity to help local good causes - one way in which we can make our purpose of improving society manifest in our community.
