On Saturday the 24th of September 2016, the Christopher Wren Lodge, No. 4855, held its regular meeting but it was also in memory of George Coates a member for 54 years who sadly died on the 2nd of August this year.
George was always seen wearing a tie and had a very extensive collection of them. It was decided that it would be a fitting tribute for all members and guests to wear one of his ties at the meeting and to take it home in memory of George.
A collection has also been held in his name which will be donated to the Berkshire Masonic Charity and the Royal British Legion. Both charities that George was a keen supporter of.
At the meeting, a cheque was donated to the Deputy Provincial Grand Master in George’s memory for £300 from the friendly gathering and according to the charity steward, another large sum is to follow and will be donated in the next meeting.
