This lodge is also known as Bearwood. It is in Sindlesham and was founded in 1976. “Building on our masonic foundations as one of the only two lodges in the Province of Berkshire which work Universal ritual.
Not only does this make our meetings an epic undertaking comparable in length to a lord of the rings movie as any of our Members and Visitors will happily confirm, there are some interesting reasons why…
The lodge was formed primarily by London Masons who moved to Berkshire and wished to continue with similar workings, and hence did not follow the Berkshire trend of Emulation working.
In addition to this, some of the Founders were ex-military and wanted a lodge that encouraged a passion for precise drill and ritual perfection, and so proceeded to ensure a lasting legacy by creating a tradition of sharp floor work which also reflects that the floor would originally have been out of bounds for early masonic meetings and ceremonies due to tracings by the Master.
Our Members are therefore extremely grateful to the Founders and Past Masters for setting the high standards of the lodge that are special to us all and which we strive to maintain today.”
Meetings: Held at the Berkshire Masonic Centre, Sindlesham, Wokingham, on the fourth Thursday in January, April, September, and November. The Lodge works Universal Ritual.
