The annual Strawberry Fayre was held in the grounds of Lord Harris Court, in Sindlesham on Saturday June 27th
Lord Harris Court is a Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution care home. The Strawberry Fayre is held every year to help raise funds for the home’s residents, and to bring in new visitors. It was opened this year by Ian Hopgood, Most Excellent Grand Superintendent, seen below with his wife Jane and Ted Melba, Chairman of the Association of Friend of Lord Harris Court and a member of the Lodge of Friendship and Care.
Music at the fayre was provided by the Woodley Concert Band. Further entertainment came from The Ellington Morris Men from Maidenhead (pictured left), led by Squire Bob Spooner, a member of Erlegh Lodge, and Foreman Dave Gibson. The fayre attracted a large number of visitors to sample the various stores, supported by many of the Berkshire Lodges.
Andrew Welborn from Friendship and Care Lodge is pictured left receiving a welcome cooling off in the stocks.
The fayre raised £1,600 on the day, and with receipts from the raflle still to be collected in, it is expected that the event will have raised about £3,000 to help the residents enjoy their life at Lord Harris Court even more.
