Mike, who  is a real ale fan and a dedicated member of CAMRA has set off on an 850 mile trip on foot across the entire length of England and will visit some 50 breweries along the way as well as staying in a different real ale pub each night.

Mike lives in Crowthorne and has just celebrated his 50th Birthday which has spurred him on to undertake this trip of a lifetime that he has been dreaming about for many years.

The journey started on Sunday 12th April at the most southernmost pub, The Turks Head in St Agnes in the Isles of Scilly.

While there he also visited the first brewery, the Ales of Scilly in St Mary’s, which is the most southernmost brewery.

Around 50 days after setting off, Mike, who has been the Charity Steward of Heather Lodge for many years, hopes to arrive at England’s northernmost brewery, the Bear Claw in Berwick-upon-Tweed, and to the northernmost pub, the Meadow House, for a celebratory pint.

He is embarking on the epic trip in memory of his step-father Bruce Gunn, and his brother-in-law Richard Whiteley, who both died from bowel cancer.
