News from Pangbourne Lodge

by Neill Rhodes

Exciting times at Pangbourne Lodge on Saturday the 5th October.

A big congratulations to Ben and Antony, seen here with WM Toks after the ceremony.

Double Second Degree:

In the words of the legendary Frankie Valli, “Oh, What a Night!”

Pangbourne Lodge delighted in performing a Double 2nd Degree with two candidates who were absolutely brilliant. Of course, that’s not to say that the rest of the team were not; WM Toks was word perfect and extremely well-supported by the Deacons, and the Wardens, and everyone else who helped in the ceremony.

Congratulations to Ben and Antony on being Passed to the 2nd Degree!

Ray Head 50 Years:

50 years in Masonry is always a very special occasion, but probably more so when it’s W.Bro. Raymond Head.

There probably isn’t a Lodge in Berkshire where the name of Raymond John Head has not been brought into conversations.  Ray was initiated at Pangbourne Lodge at this very meeting in October 1969. He has served the Masonic Community admirably and, his little known interest in Steam Trains came as a surprise as, at the very moment of him receiving his award from the Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Berkshire, the VW Peter Sands, a Steam Train came thundering through Pangbourne Station, blowing its whistle in celebration.

Ray as many of you, has held numerous appointments in the Province of Berkshire, including that of Provincial Grand Secretary for eight years,  Past Assistant Grand Master of Berkshire for four years, achieved Grand Rank of Past Senior Grand Deacon and has served as Worshipful Master in Numerous Lodges in the Province.

Ray is seen here being presented with his Award Certificate from the Deputy Grand Master of Berkshire, the Very Worshipful Peter J Sands accompanied by the Worshipful Master of Pangbourne Lodge, Toks Aluko.

Well done Ray, our congratulations from everyone in Pangbourne Lodge.
