Having had our Masonic activities appropriately suspended, one of the members of Padworth Lodge suggested that members could consider donating some of the money that we each would have spent attending meetings, towards a suitable charity. Dining fees, raffle tickets and the odd drink can amount to a reasonable sum of money as we all know!
At about the same time we were advised of the joint UGLE and MCF appeal via the Everyday Hero website. After a hurried discussion four of the Padworth brethren set themselves challenges, some physical and some mental to encourage sponsorship. During their daily exercise periods, members have been undertaking a number of challenges
- A virtual walk along Hadrians Wall (Neil Murphy)
- A virtual run of forty miles from Sindlesham Court to Freemasons Hall (Grahame Johnson)
- A forty kilometre rowing marathon (Leighton & Roz Millis)
- Whereas the daily completion of the crossword and codeword in the Daily Mail is stretching (Jim Barnett) mentally!
We all aim to complete our respective challenges by VE Day on 8th May 2020 but with no end in sight to the situation, further challenges may well be added. We are proud to currently be in second place of the Top Supporters across the UK having raised £388 so far.
