On 17th September 2021 for the first time since June 2019, Royal Arch Companions from across Berkshire filled the main lodge-room at Sindlesham for the Annual Convocation of the Provincial Grand Chapter of Berkshire. Opened by the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent Ian Hopgood, with his executive and officers in attendance, the Annual Convocation brought together representatives of every Royal Arch Chapter in the Province.
Among the distinguished guests were two past Superintendents, the current Provincial Grand Master and two of his predecessors. Sadly, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the usual contingent of Grand Superintendents and representatives from other Royal Arch Provinces were not in attendance.
The meeting agenda included reading the Obituary Roll of those Companions lost during the past two years. Following this, the assembly stood in tribute to departed merit.
The Most Excellent Grand Superintendent re-appointed his deputy and obligated and installed his new Second and Third Principals. He went on to present a Certificate of Meritorious Service before appointing and investing his Provincial Officers for the ensuing year.
Following the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent’s address to the companions, in which he expressed his happiness at the resumption of both our Chapter Convocations and Exaltation ceremonies. The Convocation was then closed in due form.
Following the Convocation the companions retired to the Flavell Suite for the Annual Convocation Dinner and the chance to renew old friendships and to make new ones.
