Portcullis Lodge No. 6672 recently learned that a 3 month old grandson of one of its members had been airlifted back to the UK and admitted into Intensive Care at the John Radcliffe Hospital. At the Lodge meeting the brethren voted to make a donation of £500.00 from the Benevolent Fund to SSNAP.
SSNAP was founded over 30 years ago to support sick and premature babies at the Newborn Care Unit in the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. Here the team supports parents and their families with babies in the Unit, providing much needed life saving equipment to supplement that provided by the NHS. As well as emotional and practical support for parents of sick babies in the local community.
The Unit comprises the Intensive Care, High Dependency and Low Dependency Nurseries and will care for up to 53 babies at a time. The Unit is a Centre for Excellence in Neonatal Care.
During the festive board, immediately after the same Lodge meeting, a spontaneous collection raised a further £500.00 bringing the total raised to £1,000.00.
A cheque for the £1,000.00 was subsequently presented to SSNAP by the Worshipful Master Shaun Brant and WBro Steve Morant (Treasurer).
